The Safety Shower People

We advise on and supply market leading emergency equipment to industry. Our range includes tank showers, freestanding showers, mobile showers, decontamination showers and eye baths. Our products are of the highest-quality: they are built from stainless steel, adhere to EU and ANSI standards and, where necessary, are fully ATEX certified.

The Safety Shower People (SSP) are experts in safety shower solutions.

Safety showers and eye baths are an essential safety feature in any industrial environment where chemicals or other substances hazardous to health are used. Yet, regulatory guidelines can be unclear or confusing, leaving businesses unsure about what they need to do to remain compliant and protect their employees and the companies themselves from the risk of litigation should an incident occur.

At SSP, we work with you to advise on the right systems for your business to help ensure you meet your legal and moral obligations to keep staff safe from the risks of working with hazardous materials. Our products are the highest quality on the market, meeting European and US standards and built to last, making them a cost-effective solution. Their stainless steel construction means they are also recyclable, making them an environmentally sound choice over the plastic options on the market.

Tank Showers

Tank showers

Tank showers have a self-contained water supply in a large stainless steel tank. The shower is gravity fed from the tank above.  This means that the shower will operate independently of a mains water supply and power supply. SSP have five different sizes of tank shower available and all can be customised with a wide variety of different add on items. This means that our tank showers can be built to meet any health and safety policy.

  • Integrated self-contained water supply
  • Easily deployed
  • Cost effective
  • Customisable with accessories
  • Eye wash options
  • Range of sizes
  • Full stainless steel construction
  • ATEX options
Frost Protected Shower

Frost protected showers

Frost protection is a vital feature of any shower that may be at risk of freezing. Both the ANSI and EN standards stipulate that adequate safeguards to ensure showers will work in freezing conditions must be taken, We offer three main product lines each of which can be customised to meet any health and safety policy.

  • Stainless steel outer casing
  • Superior insulation
  • Double trace tape heating
  • ATEX certified
  • Wall mounted & free standing options
  • Stainless steel ball valve assembly
Frost Protected Showers

Freestanding showers

All our freestanding showers are manufactured to meet either ANSI and or EN standards. Each can be customised with a wide variety of optional extras including alarms, position lights, platform actuation, side panels and more. This modular design means these versatile showers can be made to meet even the most stringent of health and safety policies.

  • Comply with ANSI and/or EN standards
  • Integrated flow regulator
  • Customisable with accessories
  • Modular design
  • Cost effective
  • Eye wash options
  • Stainless steel ball valve assembly
Decontamination Showeres

Decontamination showers

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Decontamination showers are designed to remove contaminants from protective clothing thus eliminating the risk of contamination whilst removing the clothing.  These showers differ from safety showers in that they are primarily designed to be used as part of normal everyday procedures rather than being deigned as emergency equipment which, hopefully, never needs to be used.

  • Designed for everyday use
  • 12 nozzles delivering directional cones of fine spray
  • Droplet size ensures no drift of contaminated water
  • Optional catchment basin to prevent run-off
  • Stainless steel
  • Optional accessories
Mobiles Showers

Mobile showers

Where companies have a need to deploy safety shower equipment temporarily in an area where hazardous materials may be present or when maintenance of existing equipment needs to be undertaken, we have a range of mobile showers, including tank showers and eyewash stations.

  • Large mobile tank showers
  • Small tank showers
  • Tank eye wash stations

Key industries & applications

Chemical and Petrochemical

Chemical & petrochemical

These facilities will have an array of dangerous materials and hazards, both outside and inside. They may come in gas, vapour, liquid and solid form and include acids, alkalis and hot materials. As such, a range of safety shower equipment may be needed to reflect the different hazards in different areas of the facility.

Water Treatment

Water treatment

Potentially hazardous chemicals used in water treatment include chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ammonia and acids. Ironically, water supply at these locations is hard to deliver to shower units. In addition, the showers are likely to be situated outdoors so there is a need for tepid water. Tank showers are thus an ideal solution. They don’t need to be plumbed in, an internal heater ensures both frost protection and a tepid water supply and they have a tough, rugged all stainless steel design.

Food Processing

Food processing

In food processing facilities, the risk of injury from dangerous chemicals comes largely from the use of caustics in CIP applications. In addition, however, there may be a risk of injury, particularly to eyes, from powdered ingredients and from substances such as anhydrous ammonia, a colourless gas used as a refrigerant across a variety of facilities.

General Manufacturing

General manufacturing

In general manufacturing environments, there can be any number of hazards, from battery acid due to battery storage to acids, bitumen or metal swarf. Sometimes a simple eye wash unit is all that is necessary but in many cases full body showers should be installed to provide adequate protection against injury.

ATEX Directive

ATEX Directive

The ATEX directive consists of EU directives describing what equipment is permitted in environments with an explosive atmosphere. For safety showers:

  • electrical components must be ATEX compliant
  • whole assembly should be ATEX certified
  • equipment must be certified as suitable for the zone it is to be deployed in
  • equipment must be certified as suitable for the temperatures it will be deployed in

Our showers are (optionally) ATEX certified for the whole construction, not just individual components. They can be deployed in Zone 1 and come with either T4, 5 or 6 temperature ratings. We can advise on all of the above.
