Business Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced business development manager to take on responsibility for the products under our Professional Sprayers People brand / business unit. These products consist of manually operated and motor driving sprayers, granule applicators, powder applicators, leaf blowers and associated accessory products, certified by the most important agricultural institutes all over the world. The target market is professional growers, farmers, grounds keepers, estate managers, horticulturists and forestry workers.

We need a hungry and driven individual to expand and develop both the direct and re-seller channels for this product range. We have in place an exclusive a master distribution agreement for the UK, France, Spain and Ireland with Guarany who are the largest manufacturer of such equipment in Latin America. Our business plan promises substantial growth over the coming 5 years and we need a high calibre individual to execute this plan.

Full product training will be given including onsite training at Guarany’s factory in Brazil. The candidate will be expected to liaise with the principle supplier and keep themselves updated on all new product developments as well as networking with their other distributors, marketing and sales staff in order to find out about lucrative niche markets and opportunities.

The role will also involve close coordination with our marketing department to help develop our social selling strategy as well as assisting in the creation of suitable marketing content, literature and promotional material. Input will be required on which trade shows and event to attend as well as on which niche markets to target.

The role will be office based but there will be a substantial time spent on the road visiting potential customers, re-sellers and sub distributors.

Initially the focus will be on developing the UK market but in due course we will wish to develop the French and Spanish markets. When this territory expansion is undertaken it is anticipated that another member of staff will be taken on with the relevant language skills, so there will be an opportunity to run a small sales team in due course.

The candidate

Must-have skills and experience:

    • Experience selling to the agriculture or horticultural markets OR experience working in those sectors
    • Excellent sales skill
    • A good understanding of social selling
    • An understanding of on-line marketing
    • Experience in selling through third parties

Internal Sales Executive

We are looking for an internal sales executive to assist in the sales of our spray nozzle and tank cleaning product ranges. As the product set is complex, the role will initially be giving general assistance in the sales process. This will involve chasing and closing existing business as well as handling simpler initial enquiries. There will also be an element of prospecting in the role where high potential customers such as re-sellers are profiled, identified and contacted with a view to setting up meetings with our more senior sales staff.

Full, extensive and ongoing product training will be given. As such, the role will evolve into a more traditional sales role with end-to-end ownership of the sales process. This will be a gradual process as the technical knowledge necessary to engage with our engineer clients is gained. Eventually, responsibility will be given to select product lines which will carry a sales target and associated commission.

In addition to product/technical training, training will be given on how to navigate and handle often complex documentational requirements for complex sales. This will allow the correct candidate to evolve into an individual capable of handling long sales cycle projects supplying specialist components to the world’s largest engineering companies.

Primary duties

  • Prospecting, cold calling and lead generation
  • Closing and processing inbound calls/e-mails

The candidate

Desired education and experience

  • Either or both of the following
    • Science/engineering degree
    • 2-3 years experience in technical/engineering B2B sales
  • Either or both of the following
    • The correct “sales person” personality profile as measure by psychometric testing.
    • 1-2 years experience in B2B sales environment
  • Good organisational skills

Advantageous skills

  • French language
  • German language
